Anywhere Media Player is a file-sharing media player for Windows. It takes a different approach to providing the end-user with remote playback of files. The application consists of an embedded Windows Media Player window and a list of shared files. When you add a file to the interface, it will be uploaded to one of Anywhere's servers and will then become playable whenever the user logs in. One needs to create an account to use the file sharing capabilities of Anywhere Media Player. The free account that is available on the website limits every file to a certain number of downloads per day.
Users can also share content with other users via access lists. By simply specifying the username and the file one (or you yourself) will be able to play your file from another computer. Regarding the player, it is Windows Media Player, with its innate pros and cons. The most obvious one is its limited support for file formats, extensible through codec downloads. The player is stable, but won't play any high definition content by default. The application also provides support for Microsoft Office files when Microsoft Office is installed in your system. |
